ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Our approach to sustainable production limits the impact our business has on the environment.

We are all tasked with the responsibility of shaping an ecologically sustainable future. As a manufacturer of paper products, we bear a greater share of this responsibility as we respectfully manage natural raw materials and valuable resources such as wood, energy and water. That is why we follow the ecological guiding principles of conserving resources and closed-loop recycling when we develop our products, and why sustainable management has long been one of our business objectives across all sites. We actively strive to reduce our CO2 emissions and have already managed to reduce them by 30% in recent years.

MATERIAL RECOVERY CYCLE

As we grow and are successful, we must pay close attention to ecological issues.

From the very beginning of our paper production to the present day, we are mindful to conserve all finite resources by reusing them in our internal cycle for as long as possible. We use an energy-efficient procedure to recycle the left-over material that comes from the processing of the recycled paper, and reintroduce it into our internal material recovery cycle. It is burnt and produces the water vapour needed for our production. The paper left over from the production runs is fed back into the production loop and recycled as a raw material.

The water needed to produce the paper has been sourced from the plant’s own water catchments for decades. Our need for fresh water is kept to a minimum thanks to our optimised water cycles. We even purify our service water together with the municipality’s waste water in our own treatment plant at the Niederbipp site, (which incidentally, is the first plant of its kind in Switzerland) and in doing so, contribute greatly to protecting this precious resource. That is why we do not use any chlorine or optical brighteners at any of our production sites.

We only use environmentally friendly PE or PP films as well as cardboard boxes that can be recycled. Waste such as wood, metal and foils of all kinds are sorted and also recycled.

WASTE PAPER COMPETENCE

We believe the economy and ecology go hand in hand.

We have long recognised the value of recycling paper and, as pioneers in this field, we constantly invested in sustainable production processes at our Swiss sites. Around 60% of the paper fibres we currently process comes from paper we process in our own plants.

When we make products without recycled fibres, we source the fibre from European suppliers who use demonstrably sustainable and certified processes so as to keep our supply chain as short as possible. They are delivered directly to our plant, ensuring a low carbon footprint.

WE ARE SWISS THROUGH AND THROUGH

Our Swissness is very important to us and drives us to maintain the highest social standards.

We are particularly proud of our production site in Switzerland. We gladly take on the social responsibility this entails and are committed to it. Because the people who work for us and live near our production sites are our most important resource.

That is why we invest in the individual development of each employee as well as in forward-looking solutions and sustainable technology for our Swiss customers. And we pride ourselves in the fact that we work in a spirit of partnership and fairness. We are forging a future that fills us Swiss with confidence. That is what Swissness means to us.

Swissness ist uns ein großes Anliegen

Guaranteed sustainability

We strengthen our commitment to the environment year-on-year by modernising our infrastructure from an energy-efficient point of view and optimising our consumption of vital resources. We are proud of the demonstrably responsible way we use raw materials, supplies, consumables, water and energy.
